A Positive Point
Varun Tej deserves praise for his bold choices in films, which have brought unique stories to the Telugu audience. As IAF Wing Commander Arjun Dev, codenamed Rudra, Varun Tej delivered a promising performance, fitting the character flawlessly.
He is joined by Manushi Chhillar, who made an impressive Telugu debut as an IAF officer and with the interest of Arjun Dev. Manushi Chhillar portrayed her character in a commendable way, giving her best performance in the given space.
The aerial combat scenes in the second half, as the team noted, are truly captivating, effectively capturing the spirit of patriotism.
The rest of the cast also gives their best while contributing to the excellent portrayal of the characters in the film.
A negative point
Capturing the essence of true events on screen is a daunting task, as seen in Operation Valentine. While there are moments in the film, some scenes lack engagement, which fall short of expectations.
The depiction of the terrorist attack and its aftermath does not have the desired impact, no more heart-warming style is lost that could have evoked emotional resonance.
The first half, which has ample opportunities to highlight the iaf’s talent, is inspired by unnecessary sequences, such as romantic scenes between the main leads.
The characters of Rohani Sharma, Paresh Pahuja, Shataf Fagar and Ali Raza could have been better used to evoke the emotions needed for this patriotic narrative.

Completing their third schedule on August 14, 2023, the makers officially revealed the title Operation Valentine. The bilingual project is set to release in both Telugu and Hindi. [3]
On October 19, 2023, the makers announced that the principal photography of the film had been wrapped up.
Technicale
Though director Shakti Pratap Singh Hooda succeeds to an extent, a more gripping narrative and rigorous screenplay could have turned Operation Valentine into a gripping aerial action thriller.
Sai Madhav Bora’s dialogue could have resonated better with the audience, especially in crafting more appealing patriotic lines. The cinematography of Hari’s Vedantham is commendable.
Although Mickey J. Mayer’s work is satisfying, the film misses opportunities where his superb background music could have improved the overall experience.
Editor Naveen Noli could have trimmed some scenes in the first half to increase the pace. The proper maintenance of VFX could have been appreciated, especially in scenes that demand visual effects to enhance realism and scope.
Star Performance
Varun Tej, as Rudra, looks charismatic and easy as a brave pilot. At times, however, his action is incredible, especially during emotional scenes where he is dealing with the trauma of his partner’s death. Talking about the overall impact, his performance lacks depth and he fails to connect with the audience.
Manushi Chhillar, as Aahana, fails to make an impact despite getting a sweet role. Compared to her previous films like Samrat Prithviraj and The Great Indian Family, it has improved a bit, but still, it doesn’t add anything precious.
Paresh Pahuja, as Yash Sharma, does a good job and comes across as a comic relief throughout the Jamai Fest. All other actors, like Rohani Sharma and Vaibhav Tattvawadi, are fine in their roles.
Music
The background score gets too high on points, and it eliminates the effect rather than adding value to the scenery. Talking about music, none of the tracks are suitable except Vande Mataram in the film. None of them are on the playlist if it comes only to listening to songs.
Conclusion
Ultimately, despite having a compelling story, Operation Valentine started off as a yawn. This is a valuable lesson for filmmakers who are still thinking about doubling the India vs Pakistan angle.
